Commissioner Deborah (last name not specified) moved to approve the purchase and the motion passed; at least two members recorded “aye.” Deborah said, “It’s, like, so cheap. I moved to spend that money.”
The commission heard an update on two mural projects. Members were told that a group identified as ArtVac has requested a letter of support for a new mural on the north side of the high school pharmacy titled "Estacada Wildflowers." The commission confirmed that advertising and visual assets for Poetry in Public Places and the Art in the Library program are ready to go; members agreed to shift submission deadlines to March 15 to account for delayed promotion. One member said both the graphic and the written call would be distributed that week and that a separate graphic could be created specifically for the writing solicitation.
Commissioners reported a $2,000 award from the Clackamas County Arts Alliance (the commission said it had applied for $3,500 and the alliance approved $2,000). Members said they will include the grant and other budget items in their April budget submission and will review annual events and assignments at a planning meeting scheduled for Feb. 15.
Other business included logistical items and community coordination: the commission discussed youth‑focused promotion for Arts in the Park (suggesting a name that signals youth participation), the need for earlier calendar posting of event dates, collection of participant information with a Google form, and local framing for a donated quilt that commissioners plan to hang if approved by city staff.
