The Liberty City Council unanimously approved a resolution granting a certificate of appropriateness for construction of a new single-family home at 118 North Prairie Street in the Daugherty Historic District.
Miss Sharp, city planning staff, presented the application and said the proposed primary structure would be approximately 975 square feet, include a front porch, front-facing gables and a side-entry attached garage with alley access. Sharp said the Historic District Review Commission reviewed the proposed style and materials at its Aug. 5 meeting and voted unanimously in favor of the application.
Councilmember Harold Phillips asked about a property-line concern raised by the owner of the house to the south. Sharp said county parcel mapping and the recorded plat showed the lot line as presented; staff recommended the neighboring owner have the property staked if he wanted additional assurance. No members of the public spoke at the council's public hearing on the matter.
Council members voted unanimously to approve the resolution granting the certificate of appropriateness.
