Mayor and commission present life-saving awards to Coffeyville fire personnel

The Coffeyville City Commission on Jan. 28 presented life-saving awards to members of the Coffeyville Fire Department for actions during an Aug. 28, 2023 structure fire at 701 Hibbard.
Fire Chief Mike O’Connor and other department representatives recognized Captain Pete Curricchio, Lieutenant Josh Meacom, Engineer Caleb Horn, Engineer Jimmy Bradshaw and Firefighter Brennan Harp. Chief O’Connor described dispatch at 12:47 p.m., crews finding heavy smoke, and bystanders reporting that an occupant had jumped from a second-floor window. Horn and Harp entered to perform a primary search and found an unconscious female in a southwest bedroom; Horn, Meacom and Harp removed the victim and passed her to CRMC EMS personnel. The victim was later transported to a burn unit in Tulsa and survived, Chief O’Connor said.
Mayor Maples and commissioners formally added the presentation to the meeting agenda earlier in the session before the awards were presented. Commissioners applauded the crew for quick, coordinated action.
