At its Sept. 2, 2025 meeting, the Marshfield Board of Public Works authorized staff to solicit proposals to install a new chimney liner and make related repairs at the Oak Avenue Community Center.

Justin (presenter) said an inspection found wet ceiling tiles and other damage traced to the chimney liner associated with the building's boiler. "Most of the water was attributed to snow melting and leaking in and around that chimney during the winter season and spring season," he said, and added the building was constructed in 1941 and is a multipurpose facility used for events, sports, rentals and elections.

Staff told the board the repairs were unplanned and urgent to prepare the building for the upcoming heating season, with work hoped to be completed by October so the boiler could be brought online. The board voted to solicit proposals and bring results back for consideration.
