Marshfield board approves $21,496 purchase for city assessor vehicle

At its Sept. 2, 2025 meeting, the Marshfield Board of Public Works approved the purchase of a 2026 Chevrolet Trax to replace a decommissioned 2009 Chevrolet Aveo used by the city assessor's office.
The board approved the purchase after staff presented details from the city's 701 internal service fund. "The 701 internal service fund has brought to you tonight the replacement of asset FL001, which is a 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. It currently has 48,306 miles on it and was used by the city assessor's office," said Tim Rassus, the meeting presenter. Rassus said the Aveo had been decommissioned because of necessary mechanical repairs and that a permanent replacement was needed.
Staff recommended buying a base-spec 2026 Chevrolet Trax (front-wheel drive, 4-door LS) through the State of Wisconsin vendor contract. Rassus said the vehicle would be supplied by Napleton Chevrolet out of Columbus and listed a purchase price of $21,496.50. He said the purchase would use the 701 internal service fund. A board member questioned the Aveo's relatively low mileage; Rassus responded that local salt and rust had caused the older vehicle to fail before high mileage accumulated.
A motion to approve the purchase carried on a voice vote. The motion and second were made on the floor; the transcript does not record who moved or seconded. No further conditions or amendments were recorded.
