City of La Marque officials presented certificates of appreciation to Queen of Peace Catholic Church and Monsignor James B. Anderson during the council’s July meeting.

The recognition acknowledged the church for hosting the council’s annual retreat where council members met to “reset” their relationships and priorities for the community. Mayor Pro Tem Joe Compion joined the mayor in presenting the awards.

Monsignor James B. Anderson of Queen of Peace thanked the council and said the church seeks to be “a source of unity, of health, and of service in this great community.” He added, “our doors are open.”

Council members singled out church volunteer Marcinha Madison for help arranging the retreat. The council did not take any formal action related to the recognition; the presentation was honorary.

The remarks occurred during the council’s awards and recognitions portion of the meeting.
