Library fundraising nets $42,460.87; Friends donate $25,000 for ADA door openers

Christine, identified at the meeting as the director of the Bethel Park public library, told council the library raised $42,460.87 during the tenth annual Love Your Library month in September. Part of the funds raised are eligible for a $200,000 match pool provided annually by the Jack Buncher Family Foundation to 46 libraries in Allegheny County, she said.
Christine thanked donors and the Friends of the Library for a $25,000 contribution the friends raised during the year. The library plans to use the donated funds to install ADA automatic door openers on two interior doors, Christine said.
She also announced a Friends of the Library happy-hour fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.; tickets are $30 each or two for $50, and the event is 21 and over because alcohol will be served. The Friends will also run a library scavenger hunt at the event.
The library director asked the council and residents to continue supporting donations and attendance at Friends events that fund library projects.
