Christopher Diley, who identified himself as homeless in Laramie, used the City Council's public comment period to urge against eliminating the board of health, an item he said had been part of a public hearing the previous evening.
"My name is Christopher Diley. I'm homeless in Laramie, and I'm following up on the, on last night on regarding the Board of Health being eliminated," Diley said. He described a prior experience in San Luis Obispo, California, where addressing a board of health led a board member to advise his physician to stop prescribing excessive antibiotics after Diley's Lyme disease diagnosis.
Diley told councilors he expected more confidence addressing a board of health than addressing a public health receptionist. "I don't have nearly the amount of confidence of addressing a receptionist at the public health as I would by addressing a board of health," he said, adding that he opposed elimination of the board.
Council members did not decide the board's status during the public-comment period; the statement was received as comment. The transcript shows city staff and councilors moved on to the evening's scheduled SPET work session after the public comment segment.
