Discover Denison gets Tourism Friendly Texas designation; visitor center reports 189 visits in August

Staff outlined a series of upcoming outreach and marketing events where Discover Denison will represent the city, including the Texas State Fair on Oct. 14, Formula 1 events in Austin in October (date not specified in the transcript) and the Texas Craft Brewers Festival on Nov. 15. Ashley said staff have updated the Discover Denison website, begun a monthly blog, and are scheduling visits with museums, restaurants and new businesses to gather photography and video for social media and the website.
Ashley credited a staff member, Haley, for strong social-media traction and said staff will present usage and referral reports to the board at a future meeting.
