On Sept. 30, 2025, Greater Clark County Schools presented a summary of a tentative two‑year collective bargaining agreement with the Greater Clark Education Association at a public meeting; the district and union bargaining teams reached the tentative agreement Sept. 18 and the GCEA voted to ratify it on Sept. 26, 2025.
"This agreement represents meaningful progress for our educators and ultimately for our students," said Samantha Pierce, president of the Greater Clark Education Association, during the public comment period.
District staff described the contract terms at the meeting. "On September 18, the bargaining teams for GCEA and GCCS reached a tentative 2 year agreement on the contract language in effect from 07/01/2025 through 06/30/2027. The GCEA voted to ratify the contract on 09/26/2025," said Miss Hilton, a Greater Clark County Schools staff member. She summarized the pay and benefit changes: Year 1 includes a $2,000 base pay increase that raises the entry‑level teacher salary to $52,000; Year 2 provides a $1,500 level increase based on eligibility outlined in the contract; the teacher salary cap for the contract term is $90,000. The summary also notes a $500 contribution to eligible teachers' health savings accounts in each of the two years and a $200 base increase for teachers receiving a literacy endorsement; otherwise, only minimal language changes were made.
Board members who spoke at the meeting thanked negotiators for their professionalism. No formal board action or vote on the contract occurred at the Sept. 30 public meeting; the board chair declared the public meeting closed after public comment.
The district and union presented the agreement summary in the public meeting as part of the statutorily required public noticing and comment process for collective bargaining. The transcript does not record any board motion, amendment, or vote on the agreement during the Sept. 30 meeting.
