Florence City Council approves budget amendment, tax allocations and multiple resolutions; several development items moved to executive session

The Florence City Council voted on a series of ordinances and resolutions Wednesday, approving a fiscal-year budget amendment, awarding accommodations-tax grants, adopting a sewer master plan and passing multiple recognition resolutions while deferring several development and eminent-domain items to executive session.

Council approved Ordinance Bill No. 2025-38, the second reading of an amendment to the city budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2026. The council adopted the amendment by voice vote; no roll-call tally was read into the record. During discussion, Councilman Zach McKay asked about a recent one-time trash-pickup assistance provided to the neighboring city of Lake City. City staff told council the city sent two trucks and two to three personnel to remove commercial dumping there at an estimated cost of about $4,000, and that Florence will invoice Lake City for that expense. The city attorney and staff said any further assistance would be brought to council for approval.
