Fall River Conservation Commission approves conditions for 69-space parking lot at 420 Airport Road

The Fall River Conservation Commission on Oct. 6 issued an Order of Conditions for a proposal to construct a 69-space paved parking lot at 420 Airport Road, approving the project with two special conditions: site plan review approval and placement of wetland signage at 50-foot intervals along the limit of work.

Scitech Engineering’s John Connolly presented the project to the commission, describing a roughly 5-acre parcel that includes two buildings and an isolated wetland feature. Connolly said the proposal includes a detention basin and infiltration chambers beneath the proposed paved area to meet MassDEP stormwater guidelines and prevent sedimentation of the adjoining bordering vegetated wetland.

Conservation staff reported the site’s stormwater design follows MassDEP standards and recommended the commission issue an Order of Conditions with the two special conditions. Commission members had no speakers from the public and moved to approve the order with the conditions.

The commission’s action explicitly conditions final approval on the applicant obtaining the city’s site plan review approval and on wetland signage to be installed every 50 feet along the limit of work. The commission recorded the motion and called the roll; the motion passed by voice roll call.

Next steps include the applicant obtaining site plan review approval for the parcel and demonstrating compliance with the two conditions before construction in the wetland buffer zone proceeds.
