Estacada EDC briefs businesses on industrial-campus career day for area high school CTE students

A staff member reporting to the commission said the event will bring slightly fewer than 300 students on seven school buses; every student enrolled in a qualifying CTE course that day will be excused from class to attend. The staff member said about eight companies will host stations and that Lock Construction will provide a barbecue lunch for students.
Companies named for the industrial-campus event included Lock Construction, Northwest Technologies, M2, McCarthy Manufacturing, the Glazers Union, PGE, Bartlett and Solder Timber; organizers said additional sister companies may join. The staff member asked commissioners to email availability for volunteering or escorting bus groups during the event.
Logistics discussed included school permissions and photo releases: the school district will manage student photo and media releases, and the city’s public-information contact will coordinate press releases and media outreach. Organizers said they plan an on-site photographer and will use FlashAlert (the school/city alert system) to distribute the release; any photography of students will follow school release protocols.
