District operations staff updated the board on ongoing construction and facilities projects, saying crews have completed several punch-list items at the new high school while other final inspections remain outstanding.
Operations staff member Ryan said workers recently finished the arts trophy case, permanent mechanical-room lighting, sound barriers between the black box and band rooms, and the fifth science lab. He said the acoustical shell lighting and stage curtain still need installation and that HVAC controls are being completed so staff can monitor and adjust systems remotely. "We hope to have our final inspection sometime next week," Ryan said.
At the operations shop and bus barn, electricians and plumbers are completing final work and a restroom and office area is being finished. The Frontier bus loop is complete and in use; exterior lighting has been upgraded to cover a loading area, with landscaping to follow later in the month.
Roofing work across district buildings is largely complete, operations staff said: the high school and other buildings have had full reroofs or repairs in the last five years, and Frontier and Venture are less than 10 years old. The middle school property minor plat was approved by the city of Sioux Falls and is circulating for signatures before returning to the city and county. Soil borings for the site are scheduled this month.
Ryan also said the district is pursuing a utility rebate related to ice-storage systems at the high school and Venture; that process is ongoing and is treated as a straightforward rebate application.
No formal board action was taken; the board accepted the operations update as information.
