Cornwall-Lebanon trustees review final change orders for Falcon Connector, high school renovation and stadium; Cornwall Elementary pickup lane bid recommended

Board presiding officer Mr. Schlegel called the Cornwall-Lebanon School District public work session to order on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, and district staff presented several construction change orders and a recommendation to ratify a low bid for a Cornwall Elementary traffic/pickup project.

District staff introduced change orders on the Falcon Connector project, the Cedar Crest High School renovation, and the Herbalife Stadium work, and asked the board to place those items on the agenda for formal approval at the board’s next voting meeting. Mrs. Hentz, the buildings and grounds presenter, described the items and dollar amounts and said she expected final expense reporting after the audit concludes.

The Falcon Connector: Mrs. Hentz said general contractor ECI requested a change order of $368 to adjust the plaque size and spacing to match the high school display; the plumbing contractor (Vision Mechanical) is returning a credit for unused allowances. Staff indicated these are likely the final change orders for that project and that they will present them for approval at the Oct. 20 voting session.

Cedar Crest High School renovation: Mrs. Hentz reported multiple change orders were consolidated into Change Order No. 3, producing a net credit of $53,221.10. The credit reflects work changes including a terrazzo demolition/alternative finish across corridors and credits for TechEd storage racks that the district will procure separately.

Herbalife Stadium: Staff described a net change order for the stadium work of $56,613.92, covering items such as hardware/fob revisions (reducing the number of wired fob doors), retaining-wall replacement using on-site stone instead of decayed timbers, installation of isolation valves to permit winterization of concession and field-house plumbing (estimated at $8,107), railings/fencing to protect a wheelchair ramp drop, corrected grading at the pole-vault area and water-ponding mitigation at guest-side bleachers. Mrs. Hentz said some of the stadium electrical work yields a credit from the electrical contractor (McCarty) tied to the hardware revision and lighting changes.

Cornwall Elementary parent pickup lane: Mrs. Hentz said the district advertised the project in September and October and opened bids through PenBid on Oct. 10. She reported six participants and said the project was estimated at $100,000 and came in below the estimate; Martin Paving was the low bidder. The work is planned to be funded from the Capital Reserve Fund and staff recommended the board ratify the low bid at the Oct. 20 voting session so the district can schedule the work before asphalt plants close for the season.

Next steps: For all items in this presentation, staff asked the board to take formal action at the Oct. 20 voting meeting. No votes were taken at the Oct. 13 work session.

Ending: District staff said photographic progress reports from FIDavia and other documentation will accompany the change-order materials on the Oct. 20 agenda; a final expense report for the Falcon Connector was expected after the annual audit concludes.
