Historic Greeley Inc. reported plans for an upcoming members meeting that will include the reveal of the 2025 preservation‑weekend project and noted a CSU intern assisting with archiving items at the Southern Gillespie House. The organization said it is monitoring downtown development and encouraging reuse and integration of historic buildings into new projects.
City historic‑preservation staff announced the Spanish Colony Historic Resource Survey Project kickoff, funded by a grant and using consultant FHU (Felsburg Holt & Ullevig). A public kickoff event is scheduled for Sept. 27 at the House of Hope and Refuge in the Spanish Colony neighborhood from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; staff said the event will include a short presentation, community storytelling and outreach to gather local histories and resources. The High Plains Library District, History Colorado and other partners are slated to participate.
Staff also noted ongoing outreach for the Sunrise Project with the House of Hope and Refuge and that the Spanish Colony survey will request stories and contact information from residents and stakeholders to inform the survey report. The staff presentation includes a comment card and flyer for residents who want to provide information or attend the kickoff.
The commission received the reports as informational items; no formal action was taken.
