He said the district aims to ensure "accuracy, currency and relevancy per grade level," and to match books to students' developmental levels while honoring student voice.
Committee discussion noted that purchases for teacher classroom libraries follow the same approval path as district acquisitions and that the process is a team effort involving vendors, librarians and administrators. No formal actions or votes were taken during the presentation.
The committee will continue annual reviews and follow the procedures outlined in Policy 108 (adoption of textbooks, including digital licenses) and Policy 109 (library resource guidelines). Staff said those policies have long incorporated ALA guidance on intellectual freedom for library collections.
