Several residents used the meeting's public-comment period to ask the district for an updated breakdown of how many students have enrolled from three residential developments governed by payment-in-lieu-of-taxes (PILOT) agreements and to press the board for transparency about fiscal impacts.
Public commenters asked that the district publish month-to-month counts of students from developments named in a demographic study (Coble Park, Woodmont, The Collection) and compared those figures with earlier predictions. One commenter cited a prior public statement by a municipal official that predicted fewer students than have already enrolled, and asked why the district does not publish the enrollment numbers more frequently.
In response administration said the district will deliver an updated demographer's report and enrollment figures (the administration outlined an expected November timeframe for the finalized demographer report). The superintendent and business administrator explained that PILOT agreements send payments to the municipality rather than to the school tax rolls and that the district's revenue is not automatically increased by PILOTs; instead, pilots change the allocation among municipal entities. The administration asked for time to assemble precise monthly enrollment counts so the numbers published are accurate.
Board members and the finance committee reiterated they have been engaging with municipal officials and the demographer and said the district needs timely data to plan facilities, redistricting and long-range budgets. Board members agreed updated demography and enrollment figures should be produced on a schedule that balances accuracy with public accountability and said they will continue working with municipal and county partners on projections and planning.
