Board of Public Works rejects curb-and-sidewalk bids, sets bid dates and approves several contracts

The Anderson City Board of Public Works on Oct. 7 rejected bids for two curb-and-sidewalk reconstruction projects, set new dates to accept bids, awarded a contract for bus graphics and approved an award for an outdoor air-cooled liquid chiller, the board said during its regularly scheduled meeting.
The board voted to reject bids received Sept. 30, 2025, for curb-and-sidewalk reconstruction on Brown Street (from Meadowbrook Parkway South Drive to West 30 Seventh Street) and on Andover Road (from Meadowbrook Parkway South Drive to Ringwood Way). The board recorded the reason for rejection as the bids being nonresponsive and approved the rejection on a voice vote.
The board then set Oct. 14, 2025, as the date to accept bid submissions for the Brown Street and Andover Road curb-and-sidewalk reconstruction projects. It also set Oct. 28, 2025, as the date to accept quotes for reconstruction of public restrooms at Warren Miller Park, located at West 20 Ninth Street and Fairview Street. Both dates were approved by voice vote after the motions were made and seconded.
On a separate procurement, the board approved a professional services contract with Tricked Out Car and Truck Sales to apply and install new graphics and decals on nine city buses. Chairman Ikes said, “It’ll be a total of 9.” The board recorded the cost as $5,000 per bus; two buses have already been delivered, the board noted. Board members clarified the work will place the city seal and a new CAS logo on the buses and will not add commercial advertising. “We’re not putting any ads on the bus,” Chairman Ikes said.
The board approved awarding the low bid for one outdoor air-cooled liquid chiller to Resolve Tech in the amount of $377,900. Chairman Ikes made the motion to award the contract to Resolve Tech; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also approved claims for multiple city funds: Civil City, $1,022,862.71; Light and Power, $527,848.85; Water Department, $315,245.31; Water Pollution Control, $520,120.80; and Stormwater, $16,211.23 — a combined total of $2,402,288.90. The motion to approve claims was made by Chairman Ikes and seconded by Thomas Saino, and the board approved the claims by voice vote.
Other procedural items included approval of the meeting minutes as submitted and an adjournment at 1:39 p.m.
