The Fort Scott Land Bank voted Sept. 16 to accept an offer from adjacent property owners for the narrow lot at 504 South Judson and to convey the parcel by quitclaim deed with a maintenance covenant.
Staff said the parcel had been acquired at a recent sheriff's sale and described its dimensions first as 50 by 120 feet but later corrected the record to 37.5 by 120 feet. Adjoining neighbors who already maintain the lot offered between $500 and $1,000; the board motioned to split the difference and accept $750. The motion passed with vocal assent.
Board members noted the land bank's standard deed terms require an addendum obligating buyers to maintain the parcel and to avoid building permanent improvements that could complicate title or future financing. The sale will be by quitclaim deed; staff said those deed terms include maintenance requirements and that title limitations will be stated in conveyance documents.
The board did not identify outstanding special assessments on the parcel; staff said there were none reported at the meeting. The manager will prepare closing documents and follow standard land-bank conveyance procedures.
