District clarifies service‑animal policy, adds separate rules for students and employees

The policy draft also includes a provision — recommended by PSBA — that the district may not charge additional fees for an individual to bring a service animal on district grounds.
The proposal calls for the district to request documentation before approving a service‑animal request and to move details on how requests are submitted and reviewed into an administrative regulation that the 504 coordinator and special‑education supervisors would use.
Committee members discussed reasonableness and accommodation logistics. Ms. Aduchi said the district intends to ‘‘streamline some of this’’ and ensure consistency between student and employee subsections.
Next steps: The committee accepted the revisions for further drafting; administration will produce the administrative regulation that documents the request, evaluation, and accommodation process and return to committee. The committee did not record a formal adoption vote during this meeting.
