Estacada resident urges speed bumps, paving and ivy removal on Lakeshore Drive

Lawrence Castillo, a lifetime Estacada resident, told the Traffic and Public Safety Committee on Sept. 16 that speeding and burnouts on Lakeshore Drive are endangering families and asked the committee to install speed humps and address vegetation that is killing trees along the lakeside greenway.
Castillo said traffic near the end of Lakeshore has grown as new families move in and as development proceeds near the Get-N-Go area. “The speed they're coming down through Lakeshore is just unreal,” he said, adding that he has observed cars “coming down there 40, 50 miles an hour and cutting donuts at the end of the cul de sac.” He asked the city to install multiple speed humps — “I…
