The Downtown Estacada Commission on Oct. 6 discussed ways to increase youth involvement in commission activities, with members proposing short school presentations, a booth in the high‑school commons and targeted outreach to the National Honor Society.

Connie raised the item for discussion and asked Corbin, the commission’s youth representative, about existing school assemblies. Corbin confirmed the school still holds pep rallies and said a short, five‑minute presentation to introduce the commission could work. “I can reach out to the school to find out what we would need to do as far as filling out a form to say we wanna be there and what time and stuff,” Corbin said.

Commission members suggested setting up a commission booth in the high‑school commons during a lunch period so students could stop by and complete a short questionnaire about activities they would like to see. One member reported contacting the National Honor Society through a friend who is its president and that a brief message with contact information had been provided, though motivation among students was described as mixed.

The commission agreed to pursue both options — a targeted booth and exploring a pep‑rally slot — and to report back with next steps to formalize outreach.

Members were also reminded to submit quarterly volunteer hours for July, August and September by Thursday.
