The Downtown Estacada Commission conducted brief administrative business at its Oct. 6 meeting, approving the Sept. 8 meeting minutes and designating a single commission contact for social media and newsletter content now that the city has a new communications staffer.

Commissioner Redmond moved to approve the Sept. 8 meeting minutes “as written.” Chair Fox Hames seconded the motion; the minutes were adopted with all members present voting in favor.

Commission members discussed communications after staff changes. The commission learned the city hired a new communications staffer, Andy, to replace Hannah Smith’s role. Commissioners said they will funnel all events and visual assets through one commission contact so Andy receives consistent materials. Julie Cooper volunteered to be that contact. “I would be more than happy to take that role. I can handle that,” Cooper said.

The commission also discussed the upcoming tree‑lighting in December and the possibility of a harvest market; organizers said details such as the exact location of the tree lighting and some participants are still being finalized. One logistical note: a person who had been lined up as Santa asked for $300 and had a scheduling conflict; commissioners said they were pursuing alternate leads.

Other administrative notes: Heather and Wendy will attend an upcoming Oregon Main Street event in Albany; commission members were reminded to submit volunteer hours for July, August and September by Thursday. The meeting adjourned at about 9:43 a.m.
