Planning commission recommends four candidates, including two new applicants, to city council

At its March 19, 2025 meeting the Estacada Planning Commission voted to recommend four candidates to the City Council to fill upcoming Planning Commission vacancies. The commission’s recommendation will be forwarded to City Council; appointees’ terms would begin April 1 if council confirms the appointments.
Two new applicants introduced themselves at the meeting: John Eichsenberger, who said he has been a city resident since February 2018 and wants to help manage anticipated development, and Aaron Spence, who said he and his family live in the city and want to be involved in planning decisions. Several current commissioners — including Commissioner Tara Perkins and other incumbents whose terms are expiring — also signaled willingness to serve additional terms.
After an initial recommendation failed, commissioners adopted a subsequent motion that named four individuals for council appointment: John Eichsenberger, Aaron Spence, Commissioner Tara Perkins and the motion maker (who identified the slate on the record as “myself, Tara, John, and Aaron”). Staff confirmed the recommendation will be included in the council agenda and that council typically acts on such recommendations on the consent agenda; staff will notify recommended candidates after council acts.
The commission noted it will select a new chair and vice chair at the next meeting once new appointments take effect. The new terms are scheduled to begin April 1.
