The City of Titusville presented the 2025 Titusville Community Service Award to Jessie Kirk at a special recognitions meeting, honoring her longtime volunteer work supporting health care and services for children in North Brevard.
Sharon James, chair of the 2025 Titusville Community Service Award committee, said the award — established in memory of Reverend Harry R. Lee — recognizes residents whose contributions “personify the concept of service and unity in the Titusville community.” James called the selection process “serious” and “an honor.”
The committee said Jessie Kirk was nominated by Micah Nicks and Pam Avery. According to the committee presentation, Kirk served for many years on the board of the Jess Parrish Memorial Hospital Foundation and as a dedicated board member of Friends of the Children’s Advocacy Center of Brevard for more than 17 years. The committee highlighted her regular participation in awareness activities such as the annual pinwheel campaign and described her work as “quiet compassion” that “nurtured” the community.
James asked family members to accept the award on Kirk’s behalf. Mayor Andrew Connors joined the presentation for photographs and recognition.
The award information shown during the meeting notes that nominations are solicited each year from organizations across North Brevard and are not limited to city residents so long as the nominee’s work benefits Titusville citizens. The committee said it judged nominees against standards established in the award’s guidelines and selected Kirk for her long record of service to women, children and health-care organizations.
The council did not take formal action on the award during the special recognitions session; the presentation was ceremonial and intended to honor Kirk’s record of volunteer service.
