Main Canyon Road paving finished; CDBG stormwater environmental clearance complete, project awaits state contract

The Wallsburg Town Council heard an update Oct. 9 that paving on Main Canyon Road is complete and the first coat of pavement paint was applied the same day. Council members said about 40 signs will be installed along the project corridor and throughout town; sign installation is scheduled for the week following the meeting. A project walk-through is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025.
Council members discussed concerns that the rebuilt road encourages higher travel speeds and noted the project did not slow traffic. The council also discussed possible follow-up chip-seal work next spring to address surface smoothing and grind/pave adjustments.
Separately, staff reported that the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) environmental document for the town’s stormwater study has been approved after the town signed the paperwork. Council members were told the project will begin as soon as the town receives the formal contract from the state; a council member observed that the state’s communications on timing have not changed and the start date remains contingent on state processing.
Troy Ostler, the project contact named on the agenda, was not present for the update; council members indicated they would attend the scheduled walkthrough.
The council did not take formal action on the item at the meeting; it recorded the update and scheduled the walkthrough.
