Commission approves vacation of Lots 1 and 2 in McCreery Subdivision to allow replat

The Greenwood Advisory Plan Commission voted unanimously on Oct. 13 to vacate Lots 1 and 2 of the McCreery Subdivision plat to enable a replat for a future project.

Engineer Andy Gerdom, representing owner Praveen Rajanahalli, said the lot‑vacation is a technical step toward replatting the property for development and that the applicant is prepared to answer questions. Planning staff told the commission the vacation is necessary because the current plat language would restrict uses on the lots to single‑family homes; the vacation aligns the plat with the petitioner’s intent to replat and rezone in a later filing.

The commission made a motion to approve the petition filed by Karim Raj Mahali to vacate Lots 1 and 2 of the McCreery Subdivision plat, citing changed conditions in the platted area and finding the vacation would not diminish the value of land not owned by the petitioner. The motion directed the petitioner to furnish a copy of the notice of determination to the county recorder at the petitioner’s expense. The motion passed 6-0.

Staff described the item as largely procedural and a necessary administrative step before a replat and any rezoning that might follow. The petitioner may return with plat and zoning requests for further review.
