Parks & Recreation reported a 133-response park survey emphasizing pickleball and interest in locating courts at the old wastewater-treatment plant, plans for five concert-in-the-park events, and uncertainty about Founders Day planning and dog-park/dog-park equipment timelines.
Vincent, speaking for Parks & Recreation, told the council the committee received 133 responses to a park survey that highlighted strong public interest in pickleball and suggested the old wastewater-treatment-plant site as a preferred location. The committee is planning five concerts in the park for the summer and an Arts in the Park youth craft market for the Saturday before Mother’s Day. Vincent said a movie screening in the community room was a useful test run and that the committee is planning an Earth Day event with forestry and Trout Unlimited partners.
Parks staff noted that the spring race (certification required for a certified course) must be postponed a year because regional certification availability prevented staging a certified race this year. Vincent also raised unfinished items, including removal of horseshoe equipment, dog-park improvements and splash-pad safety near the parking lot; he said he did not have a firm timeline for work on the dog park.
Councilors asked Parks & Rec to follow up with staff on specific timelines and coordination with other committees for Founders Day planning. Parks & Rec members said they are open to joint programming if another committee will take point on Founders Day or incorporate Founders Day elements into other scheduled events.
