Council members requested and agreed to schedule a town-hall-style tenant meeting focused on Franklin Park during the budget work session after several residents and council members reported tenant concerns.
Council member Jenny Pompey said she received a recent resident inquiry about unresolved apartment issues and asked for an informational meeting that would both explain the city’s complaint and enforcement processes and provide a forum for residents to raise problems. Council members said the meeting should be held in neutral space (Spring Hill Lake recreation facilities or another community room) rather than at a management office and suggested targeted outreach to Franklin Park tenants, including flyers to buildings and translated notices where appropriate.
Council asked staff to prepare a brief presentation about tenant rights, code-enforcement procedures and city resources, then open the floor for residents to speak. Staff will log complaints and follow up individually with inspections and enforcement where needed; council said aggregated patterns could indicate systemic issues for later policy consideration.
Council members also suggested using the meeting to recruit volunteers for city commissions and to publicize tenant resources. No date was set during the work session; staff were asked to return proposed dates, outreach materials and a meeting location.
