Alice ISD reports gains in attendance, outlines CCMR bonus history and academic supports

District administrators used the Oct. 13 board meeting to report incremental gains in September attendance, updates on targeted instructional supports, and an explanation of how state CCMR outcome bonuses are calculated and distributed.

Attendance and district data: Student‑services staff reported campus attendance figures for September showing small gains at several campuses (for example, Alice High School 92.11% → 92.59%, Newnan Elementary 94.74% → 95.7%). District attendance for the October snapshot was 94.3%, up marginally from the previous year; administrators said the improvement continues a multi‑year upward trend and credited targeted strategies.

ADC Saturday Academy and targeted supports: Instructional staff described an ADC (additional days of instruction) Saturday Academy held Oct. 11 that served 202 students (Newnan had the highest attendance with 48). The ADC program stems from House Bill 3 (2019) and provides additional funded instructional days to support students. Administrators also described consultant work in fifth‑grade science and an RLA/social‑studies cross‑curricular pilot for K–5 and 8th‑grade social studies support; those efforts include peer observations, on‑site coaching visits and facilitated planning sessions.

Dyslexia and staffing: The district recognized dyslexia awareness month and confirmed Alice ISD has eight dyslexia teachers serving 152 students across the district. Principals and staff were publicly recognized at the meeting.

CCMR outcome bonuses: The board heard a detailed explanation of college‑career‑military readiness (CCMR) outcome bonuses and how those bonus payments differ from CCMR accountability points. Staff explained that outcome bonuses require additional steps — for example, a graduate enrolling in higher education immediately after graduation — and that the state pays outcome bonuses after meeting subgroup thresholds. The presentation included historical figures showing Alice ISD accessed about 47% of potential outcome‑bonus funds in 2024 and that the district’s internal estimate of maximum possible bonus earnings for the 2025 cohort is $1,013,000; staff emphasized that the 2025 number is an estimate because the state’s outcome bonus pays on a two‑year lag and will depend on students’ post‑graduation enrollments.

Assessment schedule and benchmarks: Instructional leaders reminded the board that District Benchmark 1 testing is scheduled for Oct. 27–Nov. 7 and that accelerated high‑school testers will sit for the ACT in early November. Administrators said upcoming items include continued on‑site coaching visits for science and social‑studies teachers and an RLA/social‑studies cross‑curricular initiative to improve reading and background knowledge across grade levels.
