Development Services Director Bob Paulson presented the grant and said the funds will be used to hire a consultant team to recommend changes to the Unified Development Code and to speed review and approval of projects that qualify under Proposition 1‑2‑3.
Paulson told council the city opted into Proposition 1‑2‑3 in 2023 and that the city previously approved a $40,000 local match in May. “The grant will be used to contract with an expert consultant team to make improvements to our development review process and identify amendments to the Unified Development Code that will accelerate review and approval of affordable housing projects,” Paulson said.
Public comment was not raised on the item at the time the item was presented, and the council advanced the appropriation ordinance on first reading as part of the meeting’s consent of budget items.
