Cascade City Council discussed replacing an ambulance on Oct. 13, 2025, but voted to table Resolution No. 102-25 so staff can return with additional information on vehicle specifications, financing and operational considerations.
City staff presented cost estimates for rebuilding the existing box on the current chassis at about $290,000 versus buying a new unit priced roughly between $300,000 and $330,000 depending on chassis and options. Staff said the Lifeline quote runs about $330,000; a Demers model was cited at approximately $300,000. Staff also noted a 2-to-2.5-year delivery window.
Councilmember Delaney moved to table the resolution and move the item to the next meeting for further review; Councilmember Oliphant seconded. The roll call vote recorded Delaney, Oliphant, Weber, Hush and Gale as Aye, so the motion to table carried.
Council members asked staff to return with more detail on whether to rebuild or buy new, resale expectations for older units, the cost difference between diesel and gasoline chassis (staff cited roughly a $10,000 premium for diesel), and funding sources: staff reported about $221,000 in EMS reserves and noted Jones County contributions (approximately $20,000 annually) and a separate $42,000 fund balance that could be tapped.
