Council authorizes purchase agreement for Beck property to support wastewater upgrades

The Lynnwood City Council on Oct. 13 authorized the mayor to execute a purchase and sale agreement for the Beck property described in the motion as located at "1701870 Sixth Avenue West, Edmonds, Washington," to support wastewater treatment plant upgrades and construction staging.
Director Bond (public works) told the council the property owners had verbally accepted the offer and terms discussed in executive session and that funds for the purchase will come from the city’s sewer utility operating budget rather than the general fund. Staff said acquiring the property will provide a dedicated landing and staging area that is expected to reduce construction and logistical costs for the multi-year wastewater treatment plant upgrades project.
Councilmember Lewweiler moved to authorize the mayor to execute the purchase and sale agreement; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
