Cinnaminson opens two pre-K classrooms for 30 children and seeks state funding, private partnerships

Cinnaminson Township School District Superintendent Mr. Piccolo told the school board that the district opened two new pre‑K classrooms on Feb. 3 that together serve 30 children ages 3 and 4.
Piccolo said the district is pursuing additional state funding and is exploring public‑private partnerships with local providers — he named Cinnamon Sticks, Newman Learning Center and Temple Sinai — and has begun outreach to neighboring Riverton and Delran to maximize the number of available slots for district families.
The district faces physical constraints, Piccolo said: Department of Education requirements for pre‑K space include a 950‑square‑foot learning area and an in‑class bathroom, features that the district and several private providers lack. To address that, he said the district is working with the Department of Education, the county executive superintendent and the business official to seek waivers for some spaces.
Piccolo framed the expansion as part of a continuing effort to increase access to high‑quality early childhood education and invited parents and board members to contact his office with questions.
The superintendent also thanked district staff and volunteers for their roles in opening the rooms and highlighted related school events and programs occurring across the district.
