"We're kind of rolling — doing our thing, keeping people engaged," the staff member said, noting that many year-to-date numbers are already higher than for all of 2024.
The library has added a "Creation Station" maker space with instructional programming, expanded offerings tied to the summer reading challenge, and is strengthening a relationship with the local school district to host class visits and provide space for tech classes. Staff described recurring programs for children including an open robotics lab, where kids can use Lego robotics on an ongoing basis rather than only in fixed multiweek classes, and a Magic: The Gathering meet-up as a casual hangout for teens.
The library also reported partnerships and author events. Staff said the library hosted Colorado authors including Pam Houston and Ben Goldfarb for Earth Day–related talks and is seeking similar speakers for future programming.
On access, staff described an "easy access card" program that allows three checkouts and limited contact requirements to serve adults and children who lack standard identification. The library participates in Colorado reciprocal borrowing, enabling visitors with out-of-town Colorado library cards to register for local borrowing through the courier system.
Facilities issues were raised as operational priorities. Staff said the library will address a roof leak this year and plans a full roof replacement next year. They reported window-frame deterioration that includes asbestos in frames, and noted recent upgrades including some new windows, new carpet and security film. "I think we're gonna get it fixed this year, and then a replacement hopefully next year," the staff member said about the roof.
Staff changes were also outlined: the presenter said a staff member who runs youth programming, identified in the discussion as Matt, is leaving to travel and that the library will begin a search to fill the position. "He's great. Patrons love him," the staff member said. The library said Brenna and other staff will continue programming while the position is recruited.
No formal votes or funding decisions were recorded in the meeting segment. Staff said the library is maintaining services and partnerships as it pursues repair and staffing plans.
