Parks Department staff reported at the Oct. 9 meeting that the Middle Fork restroom had been rebuilt and was repaired by Sept. 27. Staff said the work included new walls, roof, doors and siding, with painting remaining.
Staff also said the service center closed for the season on Sept. 30; boats may remain in storage and have access to facilities through Oct. 30. The board was reminded that the department manages seasonal access and will communicate timelines to users.
The department announced community events: a Veterans Day parade will be held Nov. 8, with a route along East Main beginning at 12th Street and heading west to Fifth Street. Applications are available at the VFW, through the parks department and online. Staff also noted the winter farmers market will open Nov. 1 at the Star Genette Building and that the market operates year-round with limited seasonal closures.
Nut graf: Staff framed the maintenance and events updates as routine operational work and outreach: restoring a high-use restroom, managing seasonal facility closures and promoting community events intended to draw residents to parks and city programs.
Board members asked for logistics and scheduling to be confirmed; staff said they would provide additional details to the board and public as needed. The meeting also included a reminder that interviews for the farmer’s market coordinator position have moved to a second round with advisory board participation.
Ending: No formal board action was required on the operational updates; staff said they would continue to communicate facility status and event guidance through department channels.
