Board waives permit and BZA filing fees for local Eagle Scout project at HomeView Health

The Board of Public Works and Safety on Oct. 6 waived the building permit fee (approximately $70) and the Board of Zoning Appeals filing fee ($200) for an Eagle Scout service project to construct a covered patio at HomeView Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Seventeen-year-old Carter Staley, who told the board he is an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 245 and a student at Centigrade High School, described the project as a shade structure for staff to have a separate outdoor break area away from patients’ sightlines. “I'm here to request the waiving of the building permit and board of zoning appeals filing fees… it's just an extra fee that goes on top of what we already have to raise for the project,” Staley said.
Board members praised the project and voted to waive the two fees. Members asked Staley to consider returning after project completion with photos or a brief presentation. The board’s motion to waive the fees passed by voice vote with no recorded dissent.
