The Adams County Board of County Commissioners voted to continue the rezoning request for 6820 Pecos Street (RCU 2025-1) to the Nov. 4 BOCC hearing at 9:30 a.m. after members of the public raised concerns and the applicant requested additional time to work with the neighborhood.
Planning and Development Manager Jen Rudder told the board the applicant asked for extra time to consult with neighbors. A member of the public, Benjamin Carter of 1338 W. 60th Place, urged commissioners to ‘‘vote no’’ until there has been greater transparency and community engagement and raised questions about the enforceability of voluntary deed restrictions. Commissioner O'Dorisio said those matters — particularly enforceability of deed restrictions and prior communications — warrant legal review and requested an executive session for legal advice before the next hearing.
The board agreed to accept public testimony today to create a record and then continue the matter to Nov. 4 so staff and the applicant can provide a full packet. The motion to continue passed 4–0 with one absence.
