Board adopts 2025 ADA transition plan update and 2025 Title VI implementation plan

The Goshen City Board of Public Works and Safety adopted two federally mandated plans — the 2025 ADA transition plan update and the 2025 Title VI implementation plan — and authorized the mayor to sign the assurance documents and related resolutions (Resolution 2025-26 for ADA and Resolution 2025-27 for Title VI).
Becky Hetzel of Redevelopment explained the ADA update expands prior work (the city dopted an ADA plan in 2012 that focused on the public right-of-way) to include city facilities and to address web accessibility. Hetzel said the city plans to form a community-accessibility task force with representatives from buildings and grounds, engineering, IT/GIS, the mayor nd possibly the Community Relations Commission to coordinate implementation and outreach. The Title VI plan, which addresses nondiscrimination required for certain Indiana Department of Transportation funding sources, will be updated annually.
The board amended and consolidated motions to adopt both plans as the 2025 versions and approved the two resolutions and signature authority for the mayor; the chair offered public thanks to staff for completing the plans by the deadline. The motions carried on unanimous voice votes.
