Commissioner says county's portion of Hayden Area Regional Sewer Board mediation is set for Dec. 3; county share small and covered by airport funds

—So, pretty much since 2019, I've been working on the dissolution process of the JPA for, Haynare Regional Sewer Board. And our mediation is set up for December 3,— Duncan said. He estimated the county's cost for two mediation dates at roughly $1,100 or slightly less and said the airport has funds to cover the county's portion, which he described as 10 percent of the total; the two other entities are expected to cover 45 percent each.
Duncan said he will be out of town for the Dec. 3 date and offered to attend on Dec. 9 if a second day is needed. The board discussed logistics and noted a final decision on attendance could be made closer to the mediation dates.
Why it matters: The mediation concerns dissolution of a long-standing intergovernmental JPA for regional sewer services. While the county's financial exposure appears limited and the airport will cover the county's share, mediation could resolve allocation of assets, liabilities, or responsibilities among the parties.
