Escambia Children—s Trust legal counsel reported Oct. 14 that a $65,000 overpayment identified by the trust—s forensic auditor was returned by the Pensacola Little Theatre and the matter has been reported to the Florida Auditor General. Counsel said the auditor general—s office confirmed receipt of the notice.
Counsel also said she had discussed the trust—s request for an exemption from the City of Pensacola—s tax-increment funding (CRA) with the city attorney; the city attorney is reviewing a proposed interlocal agreement and staff hoped it could be considered by the city council in November.
Finally, legal staff said the trust—s standard provider contract has been reviewed and slightly expanded to make grantee compliance requirements more explicit. Counsel said examples and a more exhaustive list of required documents will be added so providers better understand reporting expectations and consequences for failing to comply.
Ending: Counsel said revised contract language will appear in the next round of agreements and that staff will continue to brief the board on the CRA interlocal negotiation and any auditor-general responses.
