Rivera said the promotions committee has grown and event planning is underway. The holiday spectacular will include horse‑drawn carriage rides, Dickens‑style carolers, bell ringers, choir performances, fairy‑tale characters, circus performers, a petting farm and ice sculptures; sponsorship outreach has begun and one sponsor is already committed. Rivera said she will post sponsor and job specifications for a social media consultant on the city and Michigan Downtown Association websites and will recommend two or three consultants for hire.
Rivera told council members she is coordinating with the farmer’s market director to explore an outdoor nostalgic winter market and that recent social media attention includes a Michigan Downtown Association Instagram takeover featuring Downtown South Lyon. She also reported the downtown EV chargers successfully connect to the EV Passport app.
Council members asked about sponsorship levels, future use of the Michigan Downtown Association’s promotional resources and metrics for social media takeovers. Rivera said she will post sponsorship details online and share metrics when available. The holiday spectacular and related events were included in the consent agenda and approved earlier in the meeting.
