Planning board raises secretary pay, approves minutes

The board approved raising the secretary/admin wage line from $3,200 to $5,000 for the fiscal line-item discussed, which the chair said raises the planning board budget total to about $20,000. The motion to increase the secretary wage was seconded and carried with six votes in favor, zero opposed and one abstention.
The budget discussion noted an existing contract line for regional planning assistance: the board recently signed a contract for $7,500 with SRPC while the budgeted line currently shows $12,500, and the discussion left that larger amount in the budget to preserve flexibility. The board also reviewed the public-notices line and discussed splitting or relabeling it as "notifications" given evolving notice practices and website posting requirements.
On administrative business, the board approved the Sept. 8 minutes after a single textual correction under a resident complaint entry. The chair called the roll at the meeting start and confirmed attendance.
The board did not adopt additional substantive budget changes beyond the secretary wage increase; board members said they would monitor spending through the remainder of the year.
The planning board is scheduled to reconvene on Nov. 10; no further procedural actions were taken at the end of this item.
