Sweetwater city manager reports dispatch upgrades, CJIS audit pass, new police chief and website launch

Sheridan said National Night Out was well attended and thanked organizers Sarah Anderson, Kathleen Cox and Karen Hunnett and the Chamber of Commerce. He announced the Mustang Harbor Splash Pad will close Oct. 19 because of weather concerns, though staff noted it has been heavily used daily.
Sheridan reported facility and technology upgrades at the Sweetwater Police Department communication center: the original carpet was replaced and a new convertible sit/stand desk with updated monitors was installed. He said the total cost of those upgrades was approximately $31,000 and that the work was funded almost entirely by the West Central Texas Council of Governments. He thanked Carla Hebert, Zach Adamas and Kristen McCoy for coordinating the effort while keeping 24/7 operations running.
Sheridan also said the Sweetwater Police Department passed a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security audit from the Texas Department of Public Safety; dispatch supervisor Jeanette Pritchard and IT staff Zach Adamas and Christian McCroy (as cited in the meeting) were credited for their work. Sheridan announced that Corey Stroman, who had served as interim chief, has been named chief of police.
Sheridan noted the city launched a redesigned city website and said public usage numbers were the highest the city has recorded; he encouraged residents to review the site. He recognized staff who contributed to the site: Kathleen Cox, Zach Adamas, Christian Lacroix and Destry Lacroix.
