Fort Scott commissioners voted Feb. 4 to award the Charles Street lift-station rebuild to Cardinal Site Work LLC, the low responsive bidder, following a competitive bidding process held Jan. 23.
City staff told commissioners three bids were received; one was rejected for using the wrong type of pump. The recommended bidder, Cardinal Site Work (a contractor operating in the region), submitted the lowest responsive proposal that matched project requirements. Public works staff said the city budgeted $150,000 for the work and the recommended award is approximately $7,300 over that budget, which staff said can be accommodated.
The city’s public works representative summarized past experience with the recommended contractor’s personnel on similar projects and noted that Cardinal’s crews performed well on prior work referenced by staff.
Commissioners moved and seconded the award on the staff recommendation and approved it by voice vote. City staff will proceed with contract finalization and scheduling.
