Commission reduces Land Bank Board size to five, restoring quorum to three
Summary
The commission approved an amendment to ordinance 3770 to change the Land Bank Board from seven members to five to allow the board to operate with currently appointed members and reduce the quorum requirement.
The Fort Scott City Commission on Sept. 3 approved an amendment to ordinance number 37-70 changing the size and quorum rules for the Land Bank Board of Trustees.
Commissioner Dylan Olsen presented two versions of the ordinance (5-member and 7-member boards). The board voted to adopt the five-member version so the current slate of appointees would constitute a full board and the quorum requirement could be reduced from four to three.
Commissioners said adopting the smaller board did not prevent future expansion or re-invitation of county participation; the change was presented as a pragmatic step to allow the land bank to continue its work without delay.
The motion to change the ordinance passed by roll call.
