County staff updated the Board of County Commissioners Oct. 14 on efforts to provide department heads with access to the county’s CIC budgeting and financial system.
Staff reported that CIC had approved access and that staff created almost all logins for department directors, but several off‑site department users cannot access CIC from their computers because of VPN and desktop application changes since the county’s new IT contractor, Sentry, took over. The sheriff’s office is already using a remote server solution; other off‑site departments will need VPN configuration or a remote access arrangement to reach the county server.
Commissioners asked staff to send a clear email to department heads explaining how to request CIC access and to include contact information for help‑desk tickets with Sentry. Josh (county staff) said he will wait until preliminary organizational tasks are complete and then send the instructions; the board discussed the possibility of an executive session about contractual issues with the IT provider but otherwise directed staff to move forward with email distribution and individual help‑desk coordination.
No formal ordinance or vote was required; the board considered the matter part of regular operational oversight and assigned follow‑up to county staff.
