ZIONSVILLE, Ind. — The Town of Zionsville Town Council unanimously appointed Kent Perkins to the Parks Board on Oct. 6 to complete a currently vacant term.
Mayor Stare introduced Perkins, describing him as a Zionsville resident with frequent use of town parks and experience as a corporate attorney with governance, risk management and regulatory compliance experience. "He comes highly recommended from some of our parks board members," the mayor said.
Councilors noted Perkins’s engagement with park users and recommended his appointment to help oversee governance and strategic initiatives for the Parks Board. A motion to approve the appointment was made and seconded by Councilor Norris; the motion passed 7 in favor, 0 opposed.
What the appointment means Perkins will fill the remainder of the vacant term on the Parks Board. Councilors said the nomination was prompted by the Parks Board’s request and the administration’s vetting of candidates. The council did not specify the appointment’s end date at the meeting.
Next steps Perkins’s appointment is effective immediately; the Parks Board and town administration will provide any onboarding or Oath of Office procedures as required by town policy.
