The Crown Point City Public Works & Safety board on Wednesday approved renewal of the city's long-standing Nationwide 457 deferred-compensation plan and deferred consideration of the annual Johnson Controls contract to the board’s next meeting.
A city staff member told the board the city has used Nationwide for the 457 plan since June 1, 1980, and that the renewal reflects a continuation of an existing vendor relationship. "We have actually 3 4 57 plans. We've had Nationwide since 06/01/1980. We have never had any problems with Nationwide," the staff member said. The board approved the renewal by voice vote.
On the Johnson Controls contract, staff asked that the board defer action to the Oct. 15 meeting so that outstanding questions from the city attorney’s office can be addressed. "I'm going to request, deferral to the October 15 meeting. So those answers or questions could be answered before," a staff member said on the record. The board voted to defer the contract review to Oct. 15.
The renewal of the Nationwide plan was presented as routine and long-standing; staff said attorney review had cleared the renewal. The Johnson Controls item was deferred to allow attorney Klupowski's questions to be answered prior to a final vote.
There were no recorded objections to the renewal and no final action taken on the Johnson Controls contract at the meeting.
